Well, it wouldn't be international adoption if there weren't "paperwork delays", now would it? No need to panic, but it looks like we will be leaving on Sunday morning instead of Friday. Apparently, the Vietnamese translation of our home study is "missing". Our dossier has been on so many desks, and passed through so many departments, that I am surprised any of it is still together! So, our home study is being re-translated as we speak and should be ready to be taken to Thanh Hoa on Wednesday. We decided that since we will have to change our day of departure from Vietnam anyway, we would go ahead and leave later too. We should be returning home on New Year's Day instead of Christmas Eve.
We hope to travel with the other family (who has had an entire document go missing!) to Thanh Hoa on Wednesday with our new papers in hand. We will be allowed to get our children, even though our Giving & Receiving Ceremony will not be until the following week (possibly on Christmas Day!) So, we will get to hang out at the beach resort in Thanh Hoa afterall, and with Kiah!
This delay, while unexpected and unnerving at first, will allow us to spend more time in Vietnam and up to a week in the city that Kiah was born in. We are looking forward to what will hopefully become a "mini-vacation" and the chance for Kiah to get to know us a little more before we whisk him away from everything that is familiar to him. We ask for your continued prayers for our travels and health, but especially for him. He is about to have his whole world shaken to the core, and we just pray that he will adjust to us quickly and that his grieving process will be short but complete. Thank you all for your support.

I will miss the 3 of you so much over the next almost 3 weeks. Even more so because we won't be spending Christmas together. But the timing is part of God's plan. I am so happy and excited for the 4 of you! I hope and pray that Kiah will quickly feel how much he is loved the moment he is placed in your arms. Please post pictures as soon as possible! I can't wait to see what he looks like now. Good luck finding our traditional Christmas meal favorites. What do they eat in Vietnam on Christmas? Probably not broccoli casserole and Southern Living magazine dressing. Seriously, we love you all and can't wait to meet Kiah.
