We are back in our hotel room and trying to get Laney settled down for bed. The other family with us (I'll call them "J&C") spoke with our agency rep, Nikki, tonight and she said there is a chance we may not be able to leave for Thanh Hoa in the morning as planned. Apparently, our papers are not yet ready to take there. She will let us know by noontime tomorrow.
We had an exciting afternoon in Hanoi today. The street are filled with scooters, bikes, motorcycles, cars, cyclos, buses, and people. It takes some guts and trust that the oncoming traffic will swerve around you as you attempt to cross the street. We learned it is best to just start walking and don't look back! There is constant honking and beeping. In fact, I can still hear it now from inside our hotel, and we are on the 20th floor and it is after 10pm. The street vendors are persistent and like to hand Laney something so that we will buy it. She learned fast though and was saying "No thank you" before we could sometimes. She was not at all bothered by the noise and confusion of the streets, in fact, she seemed to enjoy it!
We had dinner with J&C, then went to the grocery store located in our hotel to buy some formula for Kiah. I realized I didn't bring enough and found out I was unlikely to find any near where we will be staying in Thanh Hoa. We are definitely enjoying all the amenities that are right in or near our hotel and will probably be anxious to get back here after being in Thanh Hoa for a week. We also met some other American families with their children in the lobby. The babies were so cute and Laney had fun playing with them and trying to make them laugh (imagine that!)
Our jet lag hit us with full force this afternoon! We thought we were all fine and dandy, then as soon as I sat on the couch after lunch, I realized how badly I wanted to crawl into bed and take a nap, which I did - for 3 hours! Even Laney fell asleep, so now all 3 of us are wide awake again. I think we should be adjusted in a few more days, if Kiah will allow it!
So, we should know tomorrow afternoon if we will be heading for Thanh Hoa or not. We will keep you posted!
P.S. Mom, thanks for sacrificing your bed for Scuttle. I'm sure you never thought you'd get pushed out of bed by a 13 lb dog!

Looking good, E! So glad you are bringing your children home the "easy" way, delays and all. ;)

Yay! So glad you made it safe and sound.
Tell Laney that Lilly and Bea are very excited (and a bit jealous) that she is about to be a big sis!
We can't wait to see pics of your sweet boy!

Good to see you! I saw the word 'dung' on one of the signs on a building. Vietnamese translation, please!?!?!
Sending all of you love from TN. Thanks for sharing your amazing blessing and journey with us!
