After anxiously waiting and being faked out by some major gas, we have finally verified that Kiah's digestive system is working. It took 48 hours, 1& 1/2 containers of baby prunes, and some potent, freshly squeezed Vietnamese apple juice to do the trick, but all is well. He lulled us into a false sense of security with his first nicely formed one. About 10 minutes later though, we were opening all the doors, pulling out the entire container of wipes, and listening to Laney describe what she was seeing - "it's splattery!" (I think this is a new word, but it is an accurate description). This was followed up by 2 more of the spattery kind and a bath. We are hoping things will calm down a little in that area today. He slept much better after all that. The 2nd night we had him, he was waking up every hour crying. He would go back to sleep rather quickly, but it was definitely a restless night for him (and me!) Last night, he only woke up 2 or 3 times and was easily consoled. He is teething too, so were are pumping him up with Tylenol and Motrin.
He is definitely not a fan of the bath. He screamed and would not sit down for anything. We are not used to this because Laney always loved her baths, except for the very first one. But, I have heard many stories of other children being scared of the whole experience, so I hope it is just a passing phase. Next time, we may put Laney in there with him.
Kiah definitely prefers to be with me, which I enjoy too. But he will put up with Daddy if he has to, especially if Laney is nearby. They are currently taking a walk around the resort, looking at the water fountains and koi ponds. He is quite the cuddler, once he stops moving. He likes to nestle into my lap and sit while watching everything that is going on around him. His baseline facial expression is rather grumpy, but when he smiles his whole face lights up and his two little bottom teeth are adorable. I can't wait for you all to see him in person. His former hairstylist needs some more training with the clippers, but not on him! It will be interesting to see how his hair grows out.
The resort is beautiful and the weather has been nice. They are starting to put up Christmas decorations today and are playing Christmas music in the restaurant. We should know tomorrow when our G&R ceremony is, and therefore whether we will be spending Christmas here or in Hanoi.
We miss home alot, especially with it being so close to Christmas. Once we learn when our G&R is scheduled, we'll let you all know!

Hooohaah! Definitely a reason to celebrate. Kiah has been through a lot in the last two days, but we know that he will soon adjust to this new level of care and will embrace the love that is all around him. We both had to read the post twice because we were laughing so hard. Thanks for sharing the "detail" that only a parent would appreciate. It is good to know that he is a cuddler. We are ready for some of that, too. Love - Grampie
I LOVE that he is a mama's boy (in the best possible way). Sorry, Perry, but it's Emily's turn now! Always good to hear about poop. David says that Christmas fudge works well, too (he would say that, right?) Hope hated baths for 2 weeks, btw. Hope you're getting some sleep. Praying for you all . . . LOve, D,S & H
Emily,
Greetings from Lexington, KY.
God is working in such a beautiful way through you and Perry and your entire family. What a Christmas this will be for all of you. Thanks for sharing with your blog posts.
I am sitting here wishing I knew exactly when you were coming home. I would love to be at the airpoirt the moment you arrive to give you a huge hug!!!!
Hello! I was so happy to read your new post and see your new pictures this morning. (I've become addicted to your blog.) I called Mom and read it to her, and she said she was glad she'd already eaten her breakfast. (Ha!) Mom is hoping to go to Frances's this afternoon to check out the new pictures and hopefully send a message to you. She wanted me to let you all know that she's so happy that things are going well. Take care, and enjoy the nice weather. It's been cloudy and rainy in eastern North Carolina for days.
Love, Lori
Thanks for some good laughs. I can see that Kiah is wearing clothes that Mommy has chosen for him. Already he is setting the trend for all 13 month old boys. So good to hear that all is going well. We are always thinking of you and can't wait to have everyone home. Love to all. Mom
Tara- I know there's a lot that sweet boy is going through, but the best part is that he is turning out to be a Mama's boy and he is on his way HOME! We can't wait to snuggle with him and hold him! He is just beautiful, and so well dressed as expected! Eagerly check the site all the time wanting details of what your doing, so thanks for sending!
I'm so glad things are moving along. I have added the word "splattery" to my vocab and have already used it. I love the pic of Kiah sleeping! What a little angel. Anna had a good birthday and was very excited to see her Littliest Pet Shop Clubhouse. Many thanks to all. Several people at church asked my how things were going and were very pleased to hear that everything is going very well. Take care, love to all!
Aunt B
